Genesis 1

This chapter talks about how God created the world:

Day 1 - God created Light (Day) and Darkness (Night).
Day 2 - God separated water from water: Sky and Ocean.
Day 3 - God separated the waters from waters to form dry ground (Land) and gathered waters (Sea). In addition to that, God also created vegetation.
Day 4 - God created 2 great lights - the greater (Sun) to govern the day and the lesser (Moon) to govern the night. It is said that they are to serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years. (For example, a full moon). He also made the stars.
Day 5 - God created lives of the ocean and lives of the sky. He told them to be fruitful.
Day 6 - God created lives of the land and created Man in his own image. He gave Man the authority to rule over the Earth, every living thing.
Day 7 - God rested from all his work.

The creation is far too amazing!

Some interesting information which I derived from Genesis 1:

(1) Man was actually created to be a vegetarian. Genesis 1: 29 says, "Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." That explains our teeth structure.

(2) Man was instructed by God to multiply. Genesis 1:28 says, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the Earth..."

(3) Man was also appointed by God to rule over the Earth. Genesis 1:28 says, "...subdue it(Earth). Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

(4) God used 7 days to create the world. This 7 days depicts the number of days in a week!

Learning point of Genesis 1:

I think what God tries to convey to us in Genesis 1 is not only about his creation - the beginning of the Earth.

Think about God's power. Do you think that He needs 6 days to create the Earth? I do not think so. If He wants to, I believe everything will be done in less than a day. However, He did not choose to do so. Instead, He wants to take His creation step by step, in an organized way. That is not all. He appreciates His work most of the time at the end of the day. Genesis 1: 10, 19, 31 says, "And God saw that it was good."

I believe God wants to convey to us that we need to work but work in realistic amount which does not tax you physically, mentally and spiritually. In addition to that, do not work for the sake of working. Enjoy your work by appreciating it at the end of the day. Praise yourself if you need to and thank God for that.
